Life’s Punctuation

Caldwell Family:

The comic Gracie Allen once said, “Never put a period where God has put a comma.” In other words, we never know where the story of life is going, but, in Christ, its divine author has promised a happy ending. Such is our celebration during Eastertide.

As I reflect on the busy-ness of life in general, and this church in particular, I am struck by the gift we have of being called to serve as the writing instrument in God’s hand. Some days we may feel like we are just about out of ink, but God replinishes us.

Here is some of the ongoing narrative of life at Caldwell:

1. This Sunday we have a special guest preacher, Cesar Carhuachin. Cesar leads Latino ministries for the Charlotte Presbytery. He is an accomplished teacher and preacher with deep experience both in Charlotte and in his native South America. I hope you will come to hear his message and his perspective on our opportunites for ministry with and to our growing Latino population.

2. If you would like to support Mike Watson’s efforts to raise money to send Merry Oaks school kids to the coast for an educational field trip, you can order barbecue from Mike today or swing by his location on Pecan Avenue on Saturday. To order, Mike’s number is 704-375-3635 (leave a message if you get the machine) or Mike’s cell at 704-400-6365.

3. Veronica Rogers, our former intern in ministry, will be graduated from seminary this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Providence Road. We celebrate with her on this happy day. The event is open to anyone who would like to attend.

4. Special thanks to our choir, which is singing at Sharon Towers retirement center Sunday night. Sharon Towers is a Presbyerian ministry and I am sure the choir will bring life into that wonderful community.

5. If you haven’t seen the latest edition of the Caldwell Good News!, it’s posted on the Caldwell website under the “News” tab. Take a look.

Peace,

John
