Dear Caldwell,
We are in for a weekend of “covenants of the heart.”
Tomorrow at 4:30 all are invited to the joyful union of Sheena Bossie and David Ashley. They are so gracious to include us. The choir will offer some of our favorites and we will give thanks for God’s providential pairing of these two wonderful people and disciples.
On Sunday, we will consider God’s promise through Jeremiah (31:27-34 http://bible.oremus.org/?version=nrsv&passage=Jeremiah+31:27-34). Here God pledges to write a new covenant “on our hearts,” a new beginning for us all in relationship to God. Other goings-on:
- Caldwell House breakfast and devotion: Prep starts at 7 a.m. and the meal is served at 8:30. If you have not yet taken the chance to serve in this way, please do – if not this weekend, soon.
- The Adult Christian Education Class continues its study of the Heidelberg Catechism. The catechism’s Q&A format is a great way to break down our faith and consider it a piece at a time.
- Sunday night at 6, Rev. Dr. Diane Mowrey continues a conversational, interactive exploration of the book, Toxic Charity. It’s a thought-provoking look at the difference between constructive and destructive ways to help others in the name of Christ. Come whether you’ve read the book or not!
I’m delighted to report that Jackie Abernethy is home after a successful rehabilitation. We continue to pray for a variety of other situations: Julie Price (ailing father), Marie Mancinelli (ailing parents), Chuck Atwell (continued rebound from a stroke), Luke Hill’s friend (accident), Martha Bruce (ankle), Brenda Campbell (broken bones in wrist).
Also on Sunday, please welcome members of our Guatemala Vision team back home and make sure you pick up a copy of the latest edition of the Caldwell Good News!
Enjoy the gift of this gorgeous fall weather. See you soon.
In Christ,
John
