Dear Caldwell,
Somewhere along the way, I received the good advice that we should leave something from Christmas up year-round, lest we forget. The balsa wood nativity pictured above is my response to that. The magi, the shepherds and the sheep, the angel, Mary Joseph and the babe stand watch all year long over whatever passes through my office, reminding us that new life comes when we most need it.
Tonight is their night. It is also ours, the real gift of this season. So, “come all ye faithful” tonight at 5:30 for our Service of Lessons and Carols, Caldwell style. Abong Fankam will join me, along with a range of lay readers and a few new touches to this familiar, well-loved service that ends in candlelight.
