Giving Because We First Received

Dear Caldwell,

This morning, I read a fascinating profile of a philanthropist named Agnes Gund, who has given millions to worthwhile causes. She recently reflected on her life and her choice not to go into the family business, as her brothers did, because she would have more money.

“What would you do with it,” her daughter asked?

“I would give it away,” Mrs. Gund responded.

Few, if any, of us has the opportunity to give as she does. But we can make even small differences.

Like you, I am being bombarded by “Giving Tuesday” messages and emails from charities and non-profits. We all will do what we can. As this annual day of giving arrives, I hope you will take stock of your relationship to God at Caldwell and remember the gift of your faith amidst everything else.

If you so desire … you can make a pledge for 2019 here. We are still not quite to our budget goal and have yet to hear from several members.

Or you can make a gift to fulfill your 2018 pledge – or just give – here.

When we baptize babies, we say we love God because God first loved us. The same goes for our returning thanks to our Lord. We give to God because God first gives to us, in grace, hope and love.

With my thanks to you for helping make Caldwell such a marvelous church to serve,

In Christ,

John
