Dear Caldwell Family:
It’s always an interesting balance in those years when the Fourth of July falls on a Sunday, the Lord’s Day long before there ever was an America.
This Sunday, we will conclude our series on what it means to “be a new church” in a “new America.” I might have said that last week but I really mean it this week. The bulletin is printed. It says “Conclusion” by the sermon title. So it has to be the wrap-up. We look at the story in Luke 10:1-11 of how Christ sent his followers into their own fast-changing world.
As always on the first Sunday of the month, we will celebrate communion. And the session will meet to receive anyone wishing to join Caldwell church. (We already have two new members to introduce.)
So, while I know our media-drenched culture will do everything possible to convince you that Sunday is about the birth of our nation (for which we surely give thanks to God), it’s also a time to be fed together by the triumphant news of our re-birth in Christ Jesus.
Peace to you.
John
