Hello Caldwell,
It’s said that preachers love a “three-point sermon.” I’ve tried to spare you from that, but here is a three-point update on life at Caldwell.
Item # 1 – The Shelter at Caldwell
“The women said they had the best night of sleep in a very long time.”
Those were the words of Stacy Bergeron, Salvation Army Director of Operations, after the first night of the Salvation Army Shelter at Caldwell. I wish you could have heard the oohs and aahs offered up by our guests as they toured the shelter for the first time. After two nights of operations, things have gone very smoothly.
On their first night at Caldwell, several of the women expressed an interest in a Bible study. If you are interested in leading – or participating in – a Bible study with the women at the shelter, let me know. It would probably be on a Tuesday or Thursday night.
Item # 2 – Discipleship
Please remember that this Sunday we will all bring our commitments of our time and talent for God’s use through the church. This is the first phase of our Discipleship season, to be followed by the second phase focusing on our financial resources.
All members and friends should have received a booklet summarizing our various ministry opportunities. In that same packet, there was a pledge form. If you need a copy of that pledge form, you can print one from our “Resources” page on the website: http://www.caldwellpresby.org/docs/resources/discipleship_pledge.pdf
There is a place for everyone to minister here. Please consider your gifts and callings prayerfully and bring your pledge Sunday.
Item # 3 – Special Guest
Also Sunday, we will host a special guest during the Sunday School hour, beginning at 10 a.m. Mary Mikhael is the President of the Near East School of Theology in Lebanon. She will address the subject of “The Future of Christianity in the Middle East.” Join us in the Shelby Room for what should be an insightful look into this always-timely topic. Mary is the friend of Caldwell friends and supporters Ray and Martha Kiely. The Sunday School study of The Revelation to John will resume the following Sunday.
May God surround you with peace and rest as the week marches on.
John
