Catching the Spirit Through YOUR Camera

Hey Caldwell,

It’s Anne writing to you today.

I really love anticipation, don’t you? Looking forward to events, plans with others, even the date of a show I want to see (Hamilton the movie coming to the small screen on July 3!) is a delight. And the opposite – having nothing to look forward to or living with so much uncertainty, as we find ourselves in these present times – can be disheartening.

Well, I am writing to remind you of two wonderful things we can count on: the Holy Spirit moving in and around us all and the church’s celebration of that Spirit through Pentecost on May 31!

One way we want to celebrate the Spirit in worship on Pentecost this year is through your eyes and camera. How have you experienced the Spirit during this time of pandemic? We see big stories about goodness on TV, but the Spirit is moving through you in everyday moments. It may be through plants you are growing, birds you are observing or pets who love to snuggle. It may be something you are sharing, like canned food for McCreesh Place or a bedtime story with a little one. It may be a call to someone who is lonely, notes you are writing or laughter around your dinner table. Sacred Spirit moments happen all the time whether or not God is mentioned by name.

So, we’re asking you to send a photo (that includes you and/or loved ones) of a Spirit moment to me by next Monday, May 25, at ahuntereidson@caldwellpresby.org (remember you can send a photo on your phone by texting it to that email address). We will compile these photos and share them during worship on Pentecost. You will help us all remember and delight in the Spirit through your extraordinarily ordinary moments. I can’t wait!

With anticipation,
Anne
