A Time for Hope

Dear Caldwell,

By now, many of you may be awash in emotions and memories as our nation looks back on 9-11-01 and ahead in hope. A newspaper article in this morning’s Observer quoted someone as saying that sometimes we simply need time to let something bounce around in our brains until we understand it. True words for something like 9-11, which one friend labeled as “iconic.” That’s as good a description as any I’ve read.

We are blessed that one of the communities we have for sorting it all out is the Caldwell community and that we have the experience of worship in which to offer up our questions and our hopes. We will make room for that on Sunday and we will hear from a Muslim friend as he describes how his faith our ours can – and do! – live peacably side by side. After church we will have a wonderful covered dish lunch together.

Please  keep Smitty Flynn , his wife, Jill and their family in your prayers. Smitty’s mom, Hazel Bradford Flynn, went to be with God a little after midnight last night. Smitty was by her side to share a peaceful passing on. A service is being planned but no information is yet available. Also, we pray gratefully that Sherri and Ricahrd Bargoil are ok – but very sore – after a bad automobile accident earlier this week.

As we gather for worship on Sunday, please keep in mind that we will not have announcements as usual. Please feel free to use this Yahoo group to communicate any upcoming events, one of which is the monthly meeting of our Women’s Circle on Monday morning.

See you soon.

In Christ,

John
