Dear Caldwell,
Perhaps the question above is one we’ve used as a title for other blogs. I KNOW I remember Gail asking us in worship at least once, “Now what?” We have the gift of taking this journey together and sometimes we arrive at familiar questions in our faith and in our shared community.
“What now?” comes to mind for me today for several reasons. It’s a question our nation is asking after the election. It’s also a question that Justin is mulling this week as he prepares to preach next Sunday.
Specifically, he said he’s thinking about what we do with our minds now that they are, in some ways at least, liberated from worrying constantly about what could happen next under the chaos-oriented style of leadership that has defined recent years.
Justin will lead the Preachers’ Porch tonight as we look at the scriptures he has chosen, Isaiah 26:1-8 and Mark 12:28-34, in which Christ gives us the instruction that we are to worship God with our minds. Come to the Porch as we look back at last Sunday’s service and sermon and think ahead with Justin, knowing all along that we worship a God who brings order to any chaos.
Stewardship Update
A great big “thank you” to all who have made their pledge to advance ministry at Caldwell in 2021.
An equally great big “we need you” to those who have yet to pledge.
We’ve heard from about 30 percent of our members and friends so far in this year’s stewardship campaign to raise next year’s budget. Yes, it’s been a busy and uncertain time. Yet we live in hope and we love generously. Perhaps the lack of a printed packet this year allows us to overlook the campaign but now is the time. To see how God uses your support and some of what’s in store for next year, click here. If you would like a printed packet mailed to you, just let me know at jcleghorn@caldwellpresby.org.
Please make your pledge online here.
Hope to see you on the Porch tonight or at Vespers Thursday. Follow the links in the cover email you received today. Stay tuned to hear more about a special Advent Package that will be ready for you soon.
In Christ,
John
