A Century of Worship and a Wonderful Debut

Dear Caldwell,

The church campus is astir. We’ve just wound up a worship service commemorating the first worship service by this congregation on this date in 1912. Now members and friends from Caldwell, the Charlotte Bilingual Preschool and Caldwell House are equipped with vacuums, hand tools, rags and buckets, giving the church a once-in-a-century scrub down. At 5 today, we will catch our breath and enjoy a fish fry.

Tomorrow will be a special day in worship for many reasons. As we continue to commemorate a century of worship here, we will walk through the decades of how this church has worshipped over time. We’ve incorporated aspects of Caldwell worship that span 100 years. It should be a rich experience.

THEN, we will conclude worship with a special feature that brings us full circle back to our present – the debut of a 12-minute film that chronicles God’s resurrection of this church and what has happened since. It is a moving piece of story telling that will remind us all of what God and a few disciples have done here for the rest of us. You won’t want to miss it.

A Newcomers class will be held tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall for anyone who wants to join in. We will take a look at some of the essential beliefs of our faith tradition – what they mean and what they don’t. It’s always a great discussion. Also at 9:45, regular Adult Sunday School continues a look at the Beatitudes in the Shelby Room. Prep for breakfast at Caldwell House begins around 7 a.m.

Please keep Carol and Fisk Outwater and Carol’s family in your prayers as they mourn the passing of Carol’s father. Arrangements are pending. For now, we enfold them in the assurance of the resurrection.

See you soon.

Yours In Christ,

John
