Back to 2012, Bingo and More

Announcing ... Caldwell House Bingo, this Sunday

Dear Caldwell,

After traveling through time last Sundayin worship, to 1912 and back, we return to current-day worship this Sunday. So bring your clapping, swaying, joy and whatever else makes Caldwell churchl for you. It’s Pentecost Sunday, after all, so the Holy Spirit is front and center and Rev. Rogers will preach a sermon titled “Prophecies, Dreams and Visions” on Acts 2:1-17. Beth Van Gorp will bring us another Centenniel  Minute.

If you’ve always wondered – OK, even if you wondered only once or twice – about our Presbyterian roots, join in the Newcomers’ Class at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in Fellowship Hall, where Parish Associate Rev. Dr. Diane Mowrey will teach on our origins in the Protestent Reformation and some of the early leaders in our tradition. Also at 9:45, the Adult Sunday School will continue its study of the Beatitudes.

I’ve been inspired in recent weeks as one of our Caldwell House ‘graduates’ has been hard at work to do her part. Loretta McCutcheon, who was featured in the new film about Caldwell’s resurrection at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYDnVaveFPk&feature=player_embedded,  has taken it upon herself to organize a monthly Bingo game as her personal ministry for the Caldwell House ladies, including collecting prizes from area businesses and establishments. We’re all invited to join in after the ladies have lunch. The game should start around 2:15 or so Sunday in Belk Hall.

Please keep Carole and Fisk Outwater and their family in your prayers as they travel to Georgia to lay her father to rest. Elaine Hultman continues to recuperate at Mercy, though she asks for a phone call before a visit. Jean Leeper is in the hospital, as well. Richard Campbell is feeling better after another marathon bout of the hiccups. Also, our friend Claire Tate’s father is recovering after surgery in Columbus, Ga.

Enjoy your holiday weekend, safe travels to anyone on the road and see the rest of you Sunday.

Yours in Christ,

John
