Solidarity

Dear Caldwell,

Two things:

First, I hope you have on your calendar this Sunday’s Gospel concert, a benefit for individuals and families affected by MS. This is always uplifting and informative and is our own act of solidarity for those affected by MS in our congregation. Please note that it is at 4 p.m. in our sanctuary.

Second, like me, you’ve probably been processing the horrific act of violence against our Sikh sisters and brothers last Sunday. Tonight there is a chance to join them in expressing our support and to claim that we all follow a God who abhors such acts. Please read more about it below and attend tonight if you are able. I think this address is off University Boulevard.

Friends,

Following the tragic attack on the Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) in Oak Creek, WI,  local Sikh community of Charlotte in collaboration with Interfaith groups will be organizing interfaith vigil at Sikh Gurdwara of Charlotte on Wednesday August 8th, 2012 at 7 PM.

It is being co-ordinated with other Interfaith vigils across the nation. The purpose of this effort is to coordinate a nationwide remembrance and send a clear and unified message that we will not be divided; we will find hope in a moment of great tragedy; and we will move forward with the belief that freedom of religion remains a fundamental tenet of our great democracy. I would like to invite you to join us for the event.

Program starts at 7 PM. Light Dinner will be served.

 Address for the event:

Sikh Gurdwara of Charlotte

1760 Stoney Creek Lane,

Charlotte NC 28262
