Being “Kin” and the Caldwell Baby Boom-let

Anna and Colin Masto welcome little brother, Joey, into God's world.

Dear Caldwell,

On Sunday morning, we thought and prayed together about what it means to be “kin” to each other and to the Almighty through Christ, all as members of the “KINg-Dom” of God.  (If you want to know more, Sunday’s sermon is on our website at http://www.caldwellpresby.org/docs/sermons2012/120819_mysterykin-dom.pdf )  Later that afternoon, we gathered again as the entire family of God in an interfaith service that launched the events of Pride week. Thanks to all who came and participated in that act, which reminded us that, in any undertaking, we should always first look to God.

I’m delighted to report that the “kin” of Caldwell grew by one on Sunday night. Not long after keeping the nursery during worship on Sunday morning, Carrie Masto gave birth to Joey. All are doing well and expect to go home today. Joey joins siblings Anna and Colin. Carrie and dad Mike report that their needs are taken care of for the moment. So we rejoice as the Caldwell baby boom-let continues and we give thanks for the opportunity, as kin, to help raise Joey (along with Anna and Colin) in the way of the Lord.

Another member of the Caldwell family could use some help with school supplies. A single mom with multiple children is in need of:

– 5 binders

– 5 packs of notebook paper

– 4 packs of pencils

– 1 pack of kindergarten pencils and

– 1 pack of pens

If you can help, please let me know.

Finally, three pastoral care notes: Susan Pierson has almost finished her cross-country trek to seminary near San Francisco. She reports that all is well.We pray for her safe arrival. Lee Williams is at Presbyterian hospital with an infected foot. She is resting comfortably.  Also, please join me in prayer for Tamara Williams, a disciple and servant who plays a vital role on our Presbytery staff. Not long after learning her mother had stomach concern, her mother died suddenly on Sunday night.

May God bless your path through this week’s days and nights.

In Christ,

John
