A Caldwell Roundup

Dear Caldwell,

Just when the winter doldrums seem to be encroaching our creator has given us a warmer weekend to enjoy. I hope you can and you do.

In the church, this is always an envigorating time as ministries and activities get back up to full speed and we stride boldly and prayerfully into the new year. Last Sunday, we took stock of the state of the church and gave thanks for its health. This Sunday, we will ordain and install a new class of elders, which is always a moving service. Our primary scripture will be the story of Jesus calling the first disciples – Matthew’s account in 4:18-23.

A few pastoral reports: Nancy Nance is feeling better and has had good initial news on tests run earlier this week. Tovi Martin has been up and about on her broken ankle and is happy to be mobile again. We pray with Dee Blackburn and her partner, Betsy West, as Dee travels to be with her mother who has had a serious stroke. Veronica Rogers has had the crud this week and is trying her hardest to focus this afternoon as she takes an Ordination Exam. Elaine Hultman came home from the hospital last Sunday and has been doing well this week.

A few reminders: On Sunday, Feb. 6, the Caldwell youth will offer a simple soup lunch to raise money toward the Souper Bowl of Caring, which will support a local hunger ministry. On Friday, Feb. 18, the congregation and all our friends are invited to the Caldwell Celebrates dance. Mark your calendars for both

Some of you may have seen a very nice article about Caldwell from the recent edition of the Presbyterian Outlook, a national publication. The Outlook heard about Caldwell through another pastor and recounted the ongoing “miracle” in the story linked below. Thanks to those who helped tell the story so eloquently.

See you soon, I hope.

Grace and Peace to you and yours,

John
