And Our Youth Will Lead Us

New members: Rachel Eldridge; Donna Willis and Myrtle Anderton

Dear Caldwell,

Grace and peace to you in whatever you are doing today. I write to share several items.

1. You won’t want to miss this Sunday’s worship, which will be led by our broad collection of talented and inspiring youth members and friends. The service will feature music and dance and an opportunity for you to contribute to a “prayer banner” that will capture the spirit of our first Youth Sunday for years to come. More about that later.

2. The bounty of new members in 2013 continues. Five folks chose to make Caldwell their church home on Sunday. See the photos with names and introduce yourself.

3. You’re invited to support Charlotte Family Housing, a shelter-to-housing empowerment program run by friends of Caldwell, this Sunday through its Yellow Brick Road Walk. Families will gather at 3 pm Sunday (registration at 2) in Plaza Midwood, starting at 2401 The Plaza to be followed by a celebration at 4. You can register here www.cfhyellowbrickroad.org/

4. As a follow-up to our work against gun violence: Mecklenburg Ministries will hold a community conversation titled, “Can We Talk About Gun Violence in Charlotte?” on Tuesday, April 16 from 7-8:30p.m. at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd. Panelists are Dr. David Jacobs, Carolinas HealthCare System’s Surgical Critical Care and Trauma (and husband of Caldwell’s Roslyn Jacobs); Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Deputy Chief Kerr Putney; and Rev. Jason Williams, co-founder and residential member of the Hyaets Community. RSVP to 704-336-2424 or email rthompson@charlottenc.gov

5. Thanks to those who joined in yesterday’s march in support of just immigration reform!

6. Congratulations to Elizabeth Ireland, who reports that she attended her last class in law school yesterday.

More to come later.

In Christ,

John
