Are You Full?

Just some of the gathering for Charlotte Moral Monday

Dear Caldwell,

Whew! What a busy 48 hours. Three services/events on Sunday and yesterday’s Moral Monday gathering, where Caldwell folk were a featured singing group. One of you said you were “full” after Sunday, and I bet many of the rest of us know exactly how she felt. My thanks to the MANY people who organized, prepared for and helped implement our regular worship service, the Pride service, the prayer vigil for just immigration reform and the singing for Moral Monday.

This week, in addition to yoga tonight (6:30) and intercessory prayer tomorrow night (6 pm), please try to attend the initial meeting of NC Faithful in our sanctuary at 6 pm on Thursday. This is a multi-congregation effort to look at recent NC legislative decisions through the lens of the Gospel and reflect on what an active, faithful response can be. We will have a policy expert from Democracy NC explain the real human – and democratic – impact of new restrictions on voting, consider what Jesus said about valuing every life and, then, discuss how to organize.

We hope that you will not only come but bring a friend or two from another congregation. PLEASE NOTE: All Caldwell folks are asked to park in our rear lot or at Elizabeth school, to leave spaces on Fifth, Park and Travis for visitors and guests.

One last item: IF you feel called to make your voice heard by Congress on just immigration reform that values and prioritizes families and children, you can call 202-224-3121.

May the peace of Christ be with you in these languishing days of summer.

In Him,

John
