Dear Caldwell Family:
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and two families will mark the occasion with an even more important milestone – the baptism of their children. What a great day for Caldwell and the church worldwide as the Body of Christ expands.
It so happens that the post-resurrection saying of Christ we will be considering in the scripture and sermon (part of an ongoing series) is the Great Commission in Matthew 28, in which Christ commands his followers to go into the world and create disciples, baptizing and teaching in God’s triune name.
So, come tomorrow, to share this special day with the Magas and Allen-Slattery families and to join in thinking about how we obey the Great Commission, while, at the same time, respecting other world religions. While you’re here, look for the May edition of our newsletter, the Caldwell Good News!
Another part of life together as the church is holding up our brothers and sisters who have lost loved ones. Today, the family of Sylvia N. Jones will lay her to rest and take comfort in the promise of the resurrection. Sylvia was the mother of Ruby Jones, grandmother of Shawanda Jones and great-grandmother of Shawanda’s boys, Trey, Justin and Daniel. The viewing is at noon and the service is at 1 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home on Statesville Avenue. I’m grateful to those choir members who will sing.
I trust you will find some rest and sabbath time this weekend, otherwise, and that you will be able to join us for worship tomorrow if you are in town.
Peace,
John
