Dear Caldwell,
The sun has broken out today not only on Charlotte (at last) but potentially on Egypt as well. It’s not every day one gets to see a successful revolution, even more rare a largely peaceful one. An historic day with still more to come in that complicated region of our world.
Here at Caldwell, we have our own things to celebrate:
Three new members joined last Sunday, pictured here (left to right): Julie and Donna Price and John Patton (and some funny looking guy in a robe). Julie and Donna have walked with us for more than a year while John is a newer friend, now member. Please introduce yourself to them if you have not already.
$758 – That’s how much our youth raised in last week’s Souper Bowl of Caring to address hunger on the local level. This sets a new record for us. As important, more youth studied more deeply about hunger and volunteered more hours than before. Please congratulate them.
This Sunday in worship, we will continue with our series of sermons on the Ten Commandments [the Deca (ten)- logue (words)]. Also, don’t forget that Sunday night we will commence a series of dialogues in which we view portions of the PBS series on the Civil Rights movement, Eyes on the Prize, and discuss it afterward. That’s at 6 p.m.
A brief pastoral update: Dave Braldey and Darryl Hill have (very quietly) been in the hospital and are out now, home recuperating. Meanwhile, Angela Everitt says she “feels strong” after her surgery. Her post-op doctor’s visits have been positive and she plans to be in church on Sunday. She and Jim deeply appreciate the shower of love from Caldwell.
Enjoy the warmth and see you Sunday, I hope.
In Christ,
John
