Manger scene by Hayden Griffith
Dear Caldwell,
The secular calendar marks today as the second day of the new year and, on behalf of all here, Happy 2012. May God bless each day for you and yours. The church calendar, however, opens the new year at the beginning of Advent and we are now in Christmastide, the season of Christmas that began on Christmas day and ends this Thursday.
So that we won’t forget that Christmas continues, I will this week share a few of the drawings the kids made on Christmas morning when I asked them make a Birthday Card for Jesus. They worked hard and had very clear and specific ideas about what would be most fitting. Manger scenes were a popular motif for the kids, as the drawings from Ellen Martin and Hayden Griffith show. More to come.
As I noted yesterday, here is the sequence of events for our celebration of the life of Ebony Petty this Thursday.
Noon Viewing and Wake, Caldwell Sanctuary
1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Caldwell Sanctuary followed by commital service at Oaklawn Cemetary
3:00 p.m Reception/Repast, Caldwell Fellowship Hall
I will foward the obituary when it is prepared.
In Christ,
John
