Faithful

More than ever! Congrats and thank you to the record number of Crop Walkers from Caldwell!

Dear Caldwell,

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a “Clergy Appreciation” luncheon hosted by a company where one of our members works. When someone from the company asked me which employee I was “attached to,” I told her and she immediately said, “Faithful! He is faithful in his work and teamwork with others.” I told her she literally had taken the word I was going to use to describe his commitment to church.

We are so grateful for all of you who demonstrated your faithfulness and commitment to God’s work at Caldwell church last Sunday. Sixty six of you – households and individuals – brought pledges of your time, talent and money, totaling $160,800. That is a great start and we look for more pledges to arrive as others ACT on their faith, either in the mail or on Sunday, as we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ. If you have not made a pledge, please pray for guidance and respond to God’s love and grace. Even a small amount is better than no pledge at all – and we all have talents we can use in God’s service. Online pledge materials are here  http://www.caldwellpresby.org/discipleship2013/

A few things that are happening:

1. Jackie Abernethy continues her rehabilitation at Old Knox Commons in Huntersville and she welcomes visitors in the afternoon. You can call her directly at 704-897-2811.

2. If want to learn more about one way to address the ridiculous behavior in Washington, there is a public event at Caldwell tonight on the subject of how to change our gerrymandered Congressional Districts. The event is at 7 pm in the sanctuary and you can read more about it in the articles:  http://wfae.org/post/fair-redistricting and http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/10/13/4386520/advocates-renew-push-for-non-partisan.html#.Ul65-1Ckp0Q

3. Please continue praying for Brenda Campbell (broken wrist), Wilma Petty (teeth), and Julie and Donna Price (Julie’s father), Martha Bruce (twisted ankle) and the Lambert family, who had to put down a beloved pet dog.

4. Way to go to our fabulous CROP walkers!

5. Finally, we are delighted to hear of the safe return of our Vision Team from Guatemala! Stay tuned for a more full report.

In Christ,

John
