Grab A Matching Gift, Be A Pal, Teach Our Kids

Dear Caldwell,

Happy Wednesday, church.

I wrote last week about how, in Eastertide, we can look for signs of hope in a hurting world on each of the 50 days of this holy season of resurrection. The infamous Mike Watson likes to remind me sometimes that “faith is a verb.” In other words, it is completed by action. Sometimes we find hope by extending it to others.

Opportunities to be Easter people of hope, joy and healing are never lacking at Caldwell thanks to your many passions and unwavering commitment to bear witness to God’s grace in Christ. Just today and this week, we can act to bring hope to those facing HIV/AIDS, sign up to get to know a college student who cares about what Jesus cared about or receive the gift of getting to know our children. Please take a moment right now to consider these ways to build a world of love and justice.

Act Now To Triple Our Love

AIDS Walk Charlotte 2022 is coming up on Saturday, May 7th.  The Caldwell Team is still in need of walkers and donations!  The Mission and Justice Committee has allocated up to $1,000 from their budget to match any donations that come in for the Caldwell team on Thursday, April 28th. This is in addition to a Tito’s match up to $100.  This means any donation up to $100 will be tripled!  No amount is too small.

Donations can be made at:  https://p2p.onecause.com/aidswalkclt/team/caldwell-presbyterian-church-2?fbclid=IwAR2d-c-0abJYkNf5D9-8lXd2PaBuYMTVvy91N3CqrNV0_hyO4NAMqu_IxjQ

Summer Interns: Be a Pal or Host a Dinner

There is an online gathering tomorrow, Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m., to learn more about how you can get to know one of our 4 Gambrell Hope Justice summer interns. Be a mentor to them and, likely, you’ll be mentored by them! Join us online for a virtual information session. Contact Helen Hull at nchelen2012@gmail.com or 704-806-1410 for more information.  To be a part of that information session, click here. if you would like to host our Hope interns for a Sunday evening dinner in June or July, please contact Ann Alford at apalford@msn.com.

Let The Children Come to US!

Carter and Eleanor at Easter

When Jesus told his followers to let the little children gather and climb on top of him, he added that the kin’dom of God (already) belongs to them. Have you ever considered that when we keep the nursery, provide the kids’ message in worship or teach them Sunday school, we are not giving – but receiving from them the precioius gift they have to give us in reminding us of what God wants for the world – simple kindness, wonder, surprise, truth?

The future of our church is already with us as we minister to young families and seek to offer Caldwell to those who visit. The vow we make when we baptize children isn’t to let a few people handle these duties for us every Sunday but for each of us to receive and support the gift of our children. It wasn’t that long ago, remember, that Caldwell had no children at all.

So, please consult your calendars and take a turn at each of the roles we need fulfilled each Sunday. Once you’ve done it, it becomes a joyous habit! Go to this link and sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4fa4a629ab9-caldwell

With never-ending thanks for ALL you do for others out of your faith,

In Christ,

John
