How Does God Speak To You?

Dear Caldwell,

God seems to speak to all kinds of people in all sorts of ways. Burning bushes and fiery clouds in scripture. Sometimes people think they see Jesus’ face these days in potato chips.

For Elijah, a burned-out prophet who was ready to give up, God tried earthquakes and fire but finally got through in “a still small voice.” Sometimes the problem is that we aren’t listening for God in the right ways, we aren’t on God’s wave length or we think God isn’t on ours. Sometimes, God knows exactly how to reach us, even before we do. It’s then that we need to listen up because, as with Elijah, God has big plans for us.

On Sunday, Intern Abong Fankam will follow up on her powerful first sermon at Caldwell with a reflection on that story as seen through her recent mission trip to her native country of Cameroon. Adult Christian Education continues its provocative study of Eugene Peterson’s idea of what it means to mature in Christ by “practicing resurrection.” And, a great new issue of Caldwell Good News will be hot off the passes, covering the full life of our busy little church.

Happy Summer! See you Sunday.

In Christ,

john
