Dear Caldwell,
Gail here. I hope and pray that you are healthy, happy, hopeful, and hanging on to God’s unchanging, powerful hand.
In spite of the fact that we can’t be together these days, I stand amazed at the ways in which you continue to be the church in the world and the church for the world.
Out of the abundance of your hearts, you are restocking the shelves at McCreesh Place this week, collecting nonperishable food items and diapers (size 4 and 5) for the community there. Please bring donations to the church tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24th, between 10 am and 12 noon. Someone will be on the sidewalk in the front of the church collecting your gifts for McCreesh Place.
This weekend, on Saturday June 27th, at 11 am, the Mission and Justice team will continue its “holy conversations” related to who we are and why we do the work that we do related to mission and justice. Please contact Helen Hull at nchelen2012@gmail.com with questions. Keep an eye out for more details about how to participate.
If this Saturday doesn’t work for you, click here for more information about the other days on which these virtual gatherings will take place.
Tonight, instead of our usual Preacher’s Porch gathering, we are inviting you to attend an important online event that is being hosted by Union Presbyterian Seminary. Members of the Union faculty and other distinguished panelists will discuss why it is important for racist symbols (like the confederate statues) to be taken down. That conversation will take place tonight at 7:00 pm. The event is free, but you need to register. Click here for more information and also to register.
To be extra clear – we will NOT have Preacher’s Porch tonight.
On Thursday at 8 pm, we will continue our weekly practice of gathering for Vespers. Our theme this week is gratitude. Please plan to join us so that we can make this an especially Thankful Thursday. Look for the link to vespers in our Caldwell communications – including the email that brought you to this blog post.
Caldwell, I pray that God will continue to empower us to do the work of justice by loving and caring for God’s people, for all people as we are able to do so. I pray that the abundance of our hearts will continue to overflow onto one another within our church family and beyond.
Thank you and thanks be to God.
Peace, Gail
