Picnic and More!

Caldwell Family:

Grace and Peace to you ….
Christians have been greeting each other that way for 2000 years, including the greeting the risen Christ gave the disciples as recorded in John 20. But was it just a greeting – a passing “Hi. How are you?” Or, was Christ’s passing of the peace that day a gift like none other? In worship Sunday, we’ll explore that question, share communion and share other gifts from God.

BUT FIRST … on Saturday, we will enjoy each other’s company at the church picnic. We will gather at 2 p.m. at Veteran’s Park on Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood for an afternoon full of food, fun and games. We’ll be joined for a performance by the Foli Kan drummers (including our own Janet Blanchard and Leslie Gipple) at 4 and the food will be served at 5 (including the annual George Michie pie eating contest).

I hope to see you there.

Finally, as we all know, Charlotte faces a crisis shortage of affordable housing, which exacts human costs on thousands of men, women and children every day. Recent efforts to establish new affordable housing in various neighborhoods have been met with fierce opposition.  As with so many things, knowledge is one of our best tools in fighting this kind of opposition. To that end, a group has offered a bus tour in early June of affordable housing around the city, available to any who want to know more – for personal reasons or to better advocate for our homless brothers and sisters. If you are interested, please read the information below.

For now, Peace and Grace to you.
John
