Prayer Vigil Resources

Welcome to our 2024 prayer Vigil! You are joining many from our congregation who will pray from 8 p.m. on Maundy Thursday through 8 p.m. on Good Friday, remembering Jesus in the hardest day of His life and preparing for the Resurrection of His body and spirit.

If you would like to take part in this inspiring event, folllow this link to join starting at 8:30 pm on March 28th.

This year you will have the option to pray at Caldwell or at home.If you are praying at Caldwell, this year we will use the Prayer Room upstairs as our gathering spot.  In the prayer room there are Bibles and other books, couches and desks, journals and pens, and more. In the Room 2 upstairs are special activities books entitled “Easter Made Amazingly Simple” to discover the teachings shared by Jesus while on the cross and to learn who Jesus appeared to and what he had to say during the Resurrection period. In Hope Community Hall there will be a labyrinth to walk on and the Stations of the Cross to enjoy. You are also encouraged to walk by each pew, touching it with prayers for our congregation in the sanctuary.

If you are praying at home, set up a sacred space with a candle, maybe a cross or picture, whatever reminds you of your love of God. If you need guidance there are many resources below that you can use during this special time. We encourage the participation of all ages and specific activities have been provided for youth.

All of this is available to enhance the experience of our communion in this event, but prayer, as we know, does not recognize distance or walls or anything that normally inhibits our actions. Prayer just is and does and goes straight to God, so enjoy!

How to Prepare to Pray

Breathe deeply three times or until you feel relaxed.
Let all anxiety and outer referencing go. Just sit in God’s presence and let be what will be.

Meditate on The Stations of the Cross
Pray for peace for yourself and for all peoples. Then begin your prayers.
