Dear Caldwell,
Last week’s tragedy at a Pittsburgh synagogue may raise questions and concerns about safety at Caldwell on Sunday mornings.
Please know that deep thought and preparation have gone into considerations of how to keep as safe as we can on Sundays. A special committee took more than a year to examine best practices, worked with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, and has educated members on what to do in the event of an emergency.
In these days, nothing can guarantee us against harm – except closing and locking our doors forever. However, as we worship, many things are going on behind the scenes to secure and monitor our doors and keep watch over the campus.
Your session and the appropriate committees will continue to refine and enhance security measures. If you have any concerns or questions, you can ask me, Greg Shell or Richard Harrison. If you have ideas and suggestions, we welcome them.
See you Sunday.
In Christ,
John
