Sunday to Monday

Dear Caldwell,

The Sunday-to-Monday transition can often be a bit neck-wrenching but the transition after Easter Sunday can be particularly precipitous. The world is already rushing on, to whetever degree it paused, to the Royal Wedding (ugh), the violent oppression in Syria, the Washington budget debate, etc. , etc. etc.

Yesterday is worth holding on to. In worship 262 people gathered at the open tomb to sing “alleluia” and ask, “Is it true?” So, think of today as Easter+1 day, rather than just another Monday, and keep in mind today’s lectionary reading, Acts 2:24, “It was impossible for Christ to be held by death’s power.”

Please keep our Guatamala Vision team close in prayer and thought as they leave early Tuesday morning. They promise to keep us posted from there. Also, Caldwell friend and devoted disciple James Helms dies Sunday. His service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Funeral Home.

Finally, see Sheena Bossie’s note on the listserve about our Habitat Volunteer Day, this Saturday, 8:30-noon. We need a few more good folk to help put a roof over someone’s head.

More to come later in the week.

In Christ,

John
