Sunday to Monday Joys

Welcome our newest members: Brooks Johnston, Ben Boyles, Rich Brooks and Jonathan Hardin.

Dear Caldwell,

What a gorgeous day it was outside today. I’d like to think it was the afterglow of a great day together at Caldwell yesterday.

In worship, we began our “Upside-Down Advent” as we vow to prepare for the coming of Christ by looking for “signs” of the Kingdom of God and how we can help its advancement, working for justice, practicing mercy, extending love and grace. After worship, with thanks to many for the preparations, we enjoyed a time of fellowship and learning about the Mortar for Mission Capital Campaign to restore parts of our campus. See more about that (and how you can make your regular pledge, if you have yet to, on the Caldwell website at http://www.caldwellpresby.org/discipleship2012/

The session joyfully received four new members yesterday! (See the photo and caption for more.)

All are invited to continue their Advent walk this Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian’s Advent Communion Service. I have the honor of preaching at this service, which was begun by the First Pres. Presbyterian Women in 1984 as a way to provide quiet for our souls in this hectic season. Parking is on the surface street  lot one block west of the church on West Trade Street. Lunch will follow.

Another invitation: The Caldwell Young Adults are exchanging various ideas and resources (music, short stories, readings) to enlighten their Advent walk. Feel free to follow along on Facebook on the Caldwell Young Adults page.

“There will be signs …” Luke has told us, signs of the coming of the Christ and the Kingdom of God. Let us watch and wait.

Grace and Peace,

John
