I’ve mentioned to you before that I grew up hearing Paul Harvey on the radio, with his signature approach to story telling that emphasized the importance of the “rest of the story.” Tomorrow, as the Elizabeth Communities of Faith gather for Lenten worship noon at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist, we are presented with scripture that gives “the rest of the story” of Moses and the Decalogue. It’s the recounting that describes how Moses smashes the tablets upon seeing how the Israelites had turned so faithlessly to the calf idol.
This is a story about Lent, long before the first Holy Week, in that Lent asks us to claim our idols, those things that stand between us and God. The Caldwell choir will sing and we will enjoy the company of our neighbors in faith.
If none of that interests you :-), come for the soup lunch by Bite Your Tongue, wonderful cajun cooking.
Peace,
John
