Dear Caldwell:
What are you doing tonight? How about joining our guests in the shelter for devotions at 7:30? Tonight we will take a look at ways to “Welcome the Day,” drawing from a book we’ve been using as well as The Book, Psalm 118. We meet in the shelter space. Come to the courtyard door (between the sanctuary and the gym).
Caldwell rejoices today with Smitty and Jill Flynn at Smitty’s being honored by Bank of America as a “local hero.” So true on so many levels – in this case for his long-time volunteering at Jacob’s Ladder. I hope to have a photo of the celebration to share soon.
Finally, please keep Warren, Maureen and Clara Howell in your prayers. Warren and Maureen lost their college-aged son, Andrew, a gifted musician and well-loved friend, last weekend in an accident. Warren is the Music Minister at our sister Elizabeth church, St. John’s Baptist, and Maureen is the organist. Clara is their daughter, a senior in high school. A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s.
Take these verses of Psalm 118 to heart.
Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
I was pushed hard, so that I was falling,
but the Lord helped me.
The Lord is my strength and my might;
he has become my salvation.
Amen.
