Dear Caldwell,
As I prepare the third sermon in our series on the Ten Commandments, I am wondering what you have been thinking. What questions do you have that haven’t been touched on in the series so far? More specifically, what are your thought or questions or opinions about the last four commandments, those prohibiting adultery, stealing, bearing false witness and coveting your neighbors’ things?
I can’t promise that I will get to everyone’s question or perspectives, but I’d love to hear what, if anything, you think.
On another note, I hope to see you Friday night at the Caldwell Celebrates dance – 7:30 at St. John’s Baptist. You can call the church office (704-334-0825) for tickets or buy them at the door. Round up your friends and come and celebrate. As my daughter would say, it will be “epic!”
Finally, I heard on the radio that Rep. John Lewis (GA) has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his lifelong work in the arena of civil rights. As he reflected, on the news, he noted, “In the year our president was born, whites and blacks could not sit next to each other on the bus. We have come a long way.” That was one of many topics of conversation we had Sunday night as we bagn a series watching and discussing the documentary series, Eyes on the Prize. Make plans to join us this coming Sunday, 6 p.m.
Inn the meantime, peace,
John
