Dear Caldwell,
This is Intern Kristen again! This Sunday in worship, we will hear from some of our members who went on the mission trip to Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas. They will reflect on what Jesus says about what the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth in light of the experiences they had at Heifer. The mission trip was an eye opening experience, so I know that their reflections will be thought-provoking and inspiring.
I saw a small piece of the Kingdom of Heaven today. Kalaura, our youngest mission trip participant, spoke at the closing ceremony of Freedom Schools at Alexander Graham Middle School. She spoke beautifully about the history of Freedom Schools and about the positive impact it has had on countless people. Freedom Schools is a summer program that celebrates and empowers individuals through learning, and in doing so they help the world become a little more like the world as Jesus would have it. Many of you have supported the Freedom School we help with at St. John’s Baptist, which is for kids from the Enderly Park neighborhood through QC Family Tree.
Good job, Kalaura!
Today is my last day in the office, but I will return for Summer Nights at Caldwell on August 10th! We will have salad, cupcakes, activities, and reflection on where our gifts fill the worlds gaps. Hope to see you there!
Thank you so much, Caldwell, for a fantastic summer. I have learned so much about diversity, supportive community, and pure joy from you all. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and I hope that Caldwell continues to be the big-hearted and accepting community that this city needs.
Many thanks,
Kristen Roehrig
